With E3 month well and truly over, and half of 2018 behind us, July has finally arrived. Now begins the crazy ride leading up to Christmas, where we will be able to get our hands on the majority of the games we saw from this year’s E3.

Have a read of the USM team’s thoughts on the releases for this month below!

The Games

Jurassic World Evolution – Tuesday, 3rd of July (PS4, XBone)

This released last month on PC, and I have been tossing up if I want to get it or not. My laptop really is on it’s last legs, gaming wise, so maybe PS4 will be where I play this – Josh Perkins

Just get it Josh, been playing it since it launched on steam last month and it is great, especially if you like world or theme park builders. – Peter Wilkinson

I’m not sure this game is for me. I wouldn’t mind giving it a crack though. – Mathew Perkins

Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor Martyr – Thursday, 5th of July (PS4, XBone)

Man, there are just so many Warhammer games. I hear such great things about them, but I’m worried that if I try to get into them now, I’m going to have to go back and play a million different games just to know what is happening in this one – Josh Perkins

Another title I am on the fence about. I kind of feel like I am constantly on the edge of falling into a very deep well of warhammer lore and fandom. I am terrified of falling in there, to be honest. – Mathew Perkins

The Lost Child – Friday, 6th of July (PS4, Switch)

This game looks like it is halfway between a visual novel and a JRPG. I doubt I will be picking this up. And I should love these sorts of games – Mathew Perkins

Shining Resonance Refrain – Tuesday, 10th of July (PS4, XBone, Switch)

This looks like a PS3 game to be quite honest. After watching the trailer, I am not incredibly keen. Still, if you are into JRPG’s, then this might be worth your while. – Mathew Perkins

Octopath Traveller – Friday, 13th of July (Switch)

I downloaded the demo for this game onto my Switch, but never played it. Actually, that’s a lie. I think I turned it on for about 5 minutes before turning it off. I’m sure this is going to be good; It is a Square Enix game after all. I’m just not sure if I want to sink any time into it – Josh Perkins

Tempting and if you are a JRPG fan or old school final fantasy fan then this game is a must buy. – Peter Wilkinson

Sonic Mania Plus – Tuesday, 17th of October (PS4, XBone, Switch)

Nope – Peter Wilkinson

I grabbed Sonic Mania the first time around. Me and my son had a good time playing it. However, I came to the realisation that I don’t really like the original Sonic games all that much so I’ll be giving this one a miss. – Mathew Perkins

Adventure Time: Pirates of Enchiridion – Friday, 20th of July (PS4, XBone, Switch)

I used to watch Adventure time, before it got weird. Well, weirder than when it first came out. I won’t be getting this – Josh Perkins

No Man’s Sky – Thursday, 26th of July (XBone)

Man, this game was such a MASSIVE let down when it first released on PS4 and PC waaaay back in 2016. If you were not aware of this, go have a gander on the net; It’s all their. To be fair though, I have heard that Hello Games have put a shittone of work into the game to fix what they broke initially, and that it’s actually a pretty fun game now. I personally think this game has been burnt forever for me, but if you didn’t play it initially back in 2016, this release might be for you – Josh Perkins

I loved this game at launch and it seems like it has improved to be the game it wanted to be all along. I am keen to jump back in a see how it plays now and I think you should check out what people are saying at launch and be prepared to give it a go if the news is positive. – Peter Wilkinson

Sleep Tight – Thursday, 26th of July (PC, Switch)

Do you like twin stick shooters? Ever wanted to build a pillow fort in your bedroom to keep out the scary monsters? Then this is the game you have been waiting for. Made by a team that has worked on Pixar movies and has all the charm of the animated movies. Dart guns are your weapons and you just have to make it through the night and then build your fort back up and improve on it during the day cycle. Such a fun sounding game and I can’t wait. Grab it on Switch for sure. – Peter Wilkinson

I remember seeing the media releases hit our email for this game a little while ago, and kind of fell in love with it straight away. I mean, everyone loves Pixar movies, regardless of how old you are, and the graphics just scream Pixar. The fact that the gameplay actually looks entertaining is just another added benefit. Definitely want to pick this up. – Josh Perkins

Hello Neighbour – Friday, 27th of July (PS4, Switch)

Saw this game at PAX Aus and you really need to get on this. This is a must buy for me on Switch and I can’t wait to give it a full go this month. A game all about sneaking into your crazy neighbours house and every time you fail he learns and sets even more traps for you. The game looks creepy as hell yet for some reason I am keen for this. Will end up in my streaming schedule. – Peter Wilkinson

This just sounds freaky as hell. I’ll be watching it on Wilko’s stream before i decide if it’s something I will pick up. – Josh Perkins
