So here we are at the end of the first quarter of 2018. It has been an interesting time for us here at Ultra Super Mega, with some big life changes affecting some of our staff. With that said, we are committed to making USM bigger and better this year.

With all that said, March is looking like a great month for us gamers. With some huge name games hitting the shelves, I really don’t know how I am going to explain to the wife how much money I need to spend on games this month.

Have a read of our thoughts on the releases for March of 2018, and let us know your thoughts in the comments!

The Games

Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition – Tuesday, 6th of March (PS4, XBone)

I didn’t even know this was coming out! Then I saw it at JB and checked out all the extra content and now I am heavily considering diving back into Noctis’ shoes and checking out all the new stuff! I liked FF15, and I always stated it was a good game, but not a good Final Fantasy. Maybe, just maybe, the Royal Edition will change that. – Mathew Perkins

Final Fantasy XV was an…interesting game for me. I did enjoy it, but not as much as I thought I would. Certainly not enough for me to already be considering picking up a re-release of the game. With that said, if you had not yet had a chance to play it, and you don’t mind it being only a ‘decent’ Final Fantasy, maybe this is the version for you. – Josh Perkins

Really? Didn’t they release this game 14 months ago? I think i will wait for the super complete final edition before i jump back into this game. I am happy for people to make more content for a game but this feels like a joke to me. If you have the game already please don’t buy it again. If you haven’t played the game yet then maybe wait till they offer the game again with more content in 12 to 18 months. – Peter Wilkinson

Scribblenauts Showdown – Wednesday, 7th of March (PS4, XBone, Switch)

Scribblenauts was just lazy fun last time I played it, which I think was either on my DS or the WiiU. Not something I’m going to rush out and get, but if i happen to get a spare $60 sometime between now and Christmas, I might consider picking it up. – Josh Perkins

Scribblenauts is silly puzzle fun. I might actually pick this one up to be honest. – Mathew Perkins

Life is Strange: Before the Storm – Friday, 9th of March (PS4, XBone, PC)

Never played a Life is Strange game! I really should. I hear they are phenomenal. – Mathew Perkins

Devil May Cry HD Collection – Tuesday, 13th of March (PS4, XBone)

I’d rather a new Devil May Cry game than another HD remake collection thing. – Josh Perkins

Missed it when it first released and with the quality of content out at the moment this is a hard pass for me. – Peter Wilkinson

I’m pretty damn tired of HD collections hey. – Mathew Perkins

Sea of Thieves – Tuesday, 20th of March (XBone, PC)

I’ve played in the Alpha, the closed Beta and the open Beta, and my wife joined in on the Beta’s as well. This is a title I will be picking up on both XBone and PC, just so I can play it with her. But, I am worried about this game. It has some great potential. I’m just worried that there is not a lot of game here. – Josh Perkins

I have never been more excited for a game release while being so scared for it to release. I know that the game may not have enough content to keep me going, I know the grief that will come from other players will be on a whole new level and I know that I need to play this game with friends to enjoy it. However, nothing has a more fresh and exciting feel to it on the market at the moment. The game loop is great, the graphics are amazing and the game is hilarious. I feel it will be a rough couple of months after launch for the game but when the dust finally settles and the trolls have moved on I am truly looking forward to what the game has to offer after that point. – Peter Wilkinson

Attack On Titan 2 – Tuesday, 20th of March (PS4, XBone, Switch)

I played the first one and bounced off it pretty quickly as the gameplay loop got way too old, way too fast. Let’s hope they have fixed that with this new release. Because the anime and manga are pretty rad – Mathew Perkins

Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered – Tuesday, 20th of March (PS4, XBone)

I enjoyed the brief amount of time I have spent with the latest AC game, Origins which I really need to go back and play some more now that I am Monster Hunter’d out. This game just reminds me of a time when Assassin’s Creed was going down the gurgler. I won’t be picking this up. – Josh Perkins

I was sad when this released on the old consoles and happy to finally be getting a way to play it. Will I though? Not right away, not any time in the future, but maybe one day when I have time and it happens to be on sale. – Peter Wilkinson

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom – Friday, 23rd of March (PS4)

YES. YES. YES. This is the first collectors edition I have pre-ordered in years and years. I am beyond excited for this game. Ni No Kuni on the PS3 was one of my favourite games on the entire console. Charming, adventurous and downright beautiful. It’s Pokemon for big kids. (Emphasis on kids). Hurry up and release, you beautiful bastard. – Mathew Perkins

Pretty cool looking game. I missed the first one and I think the collecting that has been taking out of the game is a mis-step but still looks to be a fun game with interesting gameplay that I won’t have time to play at all. – Peter Wilkinson

A Way Out – Friday, 23rd of March (PS4, XBone)

This game sounds cool. A two player online/couch co-op where you both have to escape prison? Sign me up! Also, if you buy the full game, you can invite your friend to play for free. That’s pretty cool. – Josh Perkins

A really cool and funny story that has to be played with a friend. I love that this game exists but I fear for its release window and the fact that it will be missed by many. I will get to it eventually but not in the next month or two. – Peter Wilkinson

Detective Pikachu – Saturday, 24th of March (3DS)

No – Peter Wilkinson

Far Cry 5 – Tuesday, 27th of March (PS4, XBone, PC)

Pretty keen for this title really. I have enjoyed all the Far Cry games (primal doesn’t count, because it is less a game and more a steaming pile of dogshit), and can’t wait to get my hands on this one. Those rednecks are gunna get messed up. – Josh Perkins

Except the first game I have always found it hard to get into Far Cry games. There is two things that make me want to dive deep into this game however, first is the 4 player co-op nature of the game and the second is the story setting. I won’t be surprised if this is one of the biggest selling games on the market till October but I need to force myself away from it so I can give sea of Thieves the time I want to. Will play it in April I think. – Peter Wilkinson

Super keen for Far Cry 5! And I never thought I would be saying that about a Far Cry game again. – Mathew Perkins
