Wow.

If you’re anything like me, you have just stumbled out of March confused and disorientated. That was a massive month. Somehow, we survived.

Now here we are, at the gates of April, with another month staring at us from behind the barrel. While not as chock full of AAA titles as last month, there is still a decent number of games hitting us. Check out the teams thought’s on the releases below!

The Games

Super Bomberman R – April (Switch)

While I have finished Zelda on my Switch and really want another game to sink my teeth into, I’m not sure if this is going to be that game – Josh Perkins

I think it’s about time they put this rather tired, outdated franchise to bed. Bomberman is only ever fun when you are playing multiplayer anyway. – Mathew Perkins

Syberia 3 – April (PS4, XBone)

Syberia 3?! Wait, wasn’t this game supposed to be released on the PS3?! Oh, yes, yes it was. It was supposed to be released in 2010, to be exact. From what I remember, it was a bland looking adventure game. Let’s hope it was worth the wait?…. – Mathew Perkins

Persona 5 – Tuesday, 4th of April (PS4)

I am taking over top comment about this game because gosh dangit, I have been waiting for it for a while. Many people are touting this as ‘The best JRPG ever made’, so to say it has me a little excited, is a little understatement. If you haven’t played a Persona game before, then don’t fret, the games are all standalone and 100% worthy of your time. Just trust me on this one. This iverly stylish, story driven, introspective look at society really will be something special. Get it, Play it,  You can thank me later. – Mathew Perkins

If ever a game was going to get me to play turn based, JRPG, it would be this game. The critics are facing about it and the fans have been screaming the praises of its predecessor for so long. The problem is I have 60+ hours left on Zelda, 20+ hours on Horizon and 40+ on Ghost Recon Wildlands. So where I fit in a game that will require 80+ hours to finish? I may look at it more seriously in a month or so, but if you like you JRPG’s do not miss this one. – Peter Wilkinson

Has-Been Heroes – Tuesday, 4th of April (PS4, XBone, PC, Switch)

This month seems to be full of these smaller titles. While its great to see another Switch game being released, this game does not interest me in any way – Josh Perkins

I wish I had a Switch.. Then I could complain about the lack of quality games for the new console. – Mathew Perkins

Lego City Undercover – Wednesday, 5th of April (PS4, XBone) and Wednesday, 12th of April (Switch)

I have played a few of the Lego titles in the past few years but never actually finished one. I always seem to get bored of them and put them down for something else – Josh Perkins

I must admit that this is another title that i was sad I missed back in the day. By all accounts it is a really good open world game. I might end up getting this one “for the kids” at some stage. – Peter Wilkinson

Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition – Friday, 7th of April (PS4, XBone)

Wasn’t this originally released back in 2011? Didn’t buy it then, wont get it now – Josh Perkins

Bulletstorm was rad as fuck. Over the top action, decent writing and a combo system that felt rather refreshing at the time. However, I already played it, 6 years ago. – Mathew Perkins

Nope. Please let me go back to march. – Peter Wilkinson

Yooka-Laylee – Tuesday, 11th of April (PS4, XBone, PC, Switch TBA 2017)

I am so not interested in this title. Reports are that it is really good. I have no nostalgia for Banjo at all and really not that overly keen for a platformer anyway. If you tick either of those two boxes though you really shouldn’t miss this. Also if you want a return of 3D platformers maybe just get it to send a signal that you want more. – Peter Wilkinson

Considering that a significant portion of the old Rare team have gotten back together to make a spiritual successor to the great collectathon that is Banjo-Kazooie I think it’s a sure bet that this will be worth the wait since the Kickstarter was funded. The gameplay trailers seem a little empty in places but overall it still looks like fun for the whole family (not a phrase I use seriously or often) – Joey Hedrick

I want this, I want my son Seth, to play this. This and Crash Bandicoot. Is 2017, the return of the 3d platformer?! We can only hope. – Mathew Perkins

Is it weird that now I know this is coming to the Switch some time in 2017 I want it? – Josh Perkins

De-Formers – Tuesday, 11th of April (PS4, XBone, PC)

A physics based arena battler with Tribs, Gibs, lobss and blobs?! This looks mildy interesting. I wouldn’t mind checking it out. But I’ll be far too busy sinking 100 hours into Persona 5. – Mathew Perkins

Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition: – Wednesday, 12th of April (PC)

If Tides of Numenera wasn’t enough throwback CRPG goodness then just get this to top it off. – Joey Hedrick

Stardew Valley: Collectors Edition – Thursday, 13th of April (PS4, XBone)

If you have not played this game then the collectors edition are the perfect time to jump in. You do need to play this master piece at some stage in your life. – Peter Wilkinson

Oh god, no one tell my partner Jess this is coming out. I will lose my PS4 for 100 hours. – Mathew Perkins

Be right back, just need to text Jess and let her know this is releasing soon on the PS4 – Josh Perkins

Forts – Wednesday, 19th of April (PC)

Talented Brisbane developers, Earthworks games, has a sneaky little hit on their hands if what I played in beta at in December is anything to go by. Think of a base building mechanic that is fully physics based like the rockets in Kerbal space program and the gameplay of worms rolled together. Now make it all happen in real time so you never feel like you have a chance to breath. Multiplayer and single player, this game at its early stages was fun let alone what the have added to it over the past 4 months. – Peter Wilkinson

Peter has been raving about this game for ages. I am keen as hell to check it out! Can;t wait to set up some USM game nights and challenge the devs! – Mathew Perkins

Flinthook – Wednesday, 19th of April (PC)

Grappling hooks are a guilty pleasure of mine. I’ll play anything that has even the most remote reference to them in it. Thankfully this doesn’t just throw them in for good measure, Flinthook is ALL about that shit. – Joey Hedrick

After watching about 30 seconds of gameplay footage. I decided I want this game. Retro inspired 2d shooter, centered around grappling hook mechanics. Yeah, righto then, you can have my money. – Mathew Perkins

ATV Renegades – Friday, 21st of April (PS4, XBone)

What the actual fuck. This game looks like it has been ported across from the PS2?! Who made this shit? (5 minutes pass) Well, I legitimately cannot find a webpage that easily tells me who made this. Probably a good thing, I wouldn’t want that information public, either. Leave this one in the trash fire, there it belongs. – Mathew Perkins

Dark Souls 3: The Fire Fades Edition (GOTY) – Friday, 21st of April (PS4, XBone, PC)

Probably not the best time for me to jump into the series but it does sound like a really good send of to a series that really has changed the industry in its own small way. – Peter Wilkinson

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 – Wednesday, 26th of April (PS4, XBone, PC)

Oh, nah. – Mathew Perkins

Outlast Trinity – Wednesday, 26th of April (PS4, XBone)

If you like horror games then this little collection might be just what your looking for, if you missed the original release. – Peter Wilkinson

Dragon Quest Heroes II Explorers Edition – Wednesday, 26th of April (PC), 28th of April (PS4)

I’m all for Koei Tecmo borrowing from other brands and building them into Warriors style games. I enjoyed Hyrule Warriors with all the extras like boss fights and an interesting non-canon crossover story that they managed to pull together for it. I’m yet to play DQH the first, but reports are positive so I can imagine this will be better again as is usually the case with the Warriors games sequels. – Joey Hedrick

Unlike Joey, I did NOT enjoy Hyrule Warriors and I can’t really articulate why. I just, didn’t dig it. So I think I’ll probably skip this one. – Mathew Perkins

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III – Thursday, 27th of April (PC)

I am interested in this just need to look at it a bit closer to release. If I pick this game up it will depend a lot on how many other games I am still trying to finish from last month. Might wait for a steam sale but if you’re a fan of the series do jump on in. – Peter Wilkinson

Having played the closed beta I can safely say this is something to keep an eye on for fans of Dawn of War 1. There are some things which irk me like the map designs that I was able to play and the odd choice of added pre built anti-rush buildings/mechanics in the game mode that was available but if we can strip those back in a regular skirmish then I think we’ve got a fun, traditional RTS on our hands. – Joey Hedrick

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Friday, 28th of April (Switch)

Nintendo really, REALLY are the kings of working out ways to make you buy the same fucking game, 200 times in a 3 year period huh? But seriously, cannot wait to get a Switch and pick this one up. – Mathew Perkins

Definitely planning on adding this to my Switch collection. – Josh Perkins

If I am being honest this is probably the reason i really bought the switch. The king of karting games and one of my favourite series of all time is getting a weird port thing to the switch, I can’t wait! I completely missed this on Wii U and there was several times i almost bought one just for Mario Kart. I am happy I will get to play this gorgeous game finally. – Peter Wilkinson
