Fucking hell Sony! You showed us some games!

After a lacklustre conference in 2015, Sony came charging out of the gate like a pissed off bull who just got kicked in the bull nads, and despite not saying a damn thing about the all-but-confirmed Playstation Neo, they still managed to give us an action packed hour and a half full of announcements, trailers, Hideo Kojima and surprisingly little talking.

Let’s get into it! Here’s how I ranked the announcements from the Sony press conference.

Death Stranding

Excitement Level: 9/10

Hideo Kojima set the crowd on fire with 2 simple words.

“I’m Back!”

Even though he never really went anywhere in the first place. Death Stranded is the new IP from the Sony endorsed, Kojima lead studio and as I would expect, managed to confuse, excite and intrigue me all at the same time. What do we know about it? Nothing! What sort of game will it be? We don’t know! What the fuck is going on?! I have no fucking idea!

Bravo Hideo, you magnificent bastard.

God of War 4

Excitement Level: 8/10

I’m not ready to exist in a world where I am excited for a God of War game. Seriously, if you had have told me that I would walk away from that press conference, actually keen, to see more on a new God of War, I would have laughed in your face. But here we are! I am legitimately excited for this much more mature and story driven game. Not to mention the shift to Norse Mythology which was leaked and posted here on USM a few weeks ago.

Horizon Zero Dawn

Excitement Level 8/10

This game just keeps looking better and better. My only concern at this point, is the over-chatty female protagonist. I don’t need to hear what she is thinking every 3 seconds thanks. Just let me hunt some god damn roboraptors!

Spiderman PS4

Excitement Level: 7/10

Another game I didn’t think I would give a shit about. But after seeing that Insomniac Games are heading it up and watching the rather action filled trailer, turns out I do give a shit. And a pretty big shit at that.

Detroit: Become Human

Excitement Level: 7/10

Quantic Dream are the company behind Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. The first of which I thoroughly enjoyed, the latter however, fell a little flat for me. Their ‘choose your own adventure’ style of gameplay and heavy focus on choices and consequences may not always hit the mark but Detroit: Become Human looks to change all that and be the most ‘chose your own adventurey’ game to date.

Days Gone

Excitement Level: 6/10

This is a weird one! I got a real ‘The Last of Us’ feeling out of it and yet ‘Days Gone’ is not a naughty dog game. Instead, it appears to be from the makers of Syphon Filter! A post-apocalyptic, zombie horde survival game. I’m interested, but this one didn’t really hit its mark with me.

Resident Evil 7

Excitement Level: 6/10

The Resident Evil series has had it’s fair share of bad games. To be fair, it has also had its masterpieces. So it’s hard to judge where this game will fit. The fact that it appears to be a Sony VR game is a little worrying, however the trailer left me with a faint whisper of optimism due to it’s PT-esque appearance.

Crash Bandicoot: Remaster

Excitement Level: Bandicoot Shitting Crazy

They are going to remaster all 3 original Crash games for the PS4? TAKE MY MONEY, TAKE IT NOW!
