I’m trying not to get too excited right now. The Deus Ex series is another in a long list that has a massively important and potent legacy in PC gaming. The original consistently makes its way to top ten games lists, deservedly. The most recent sequel Deus Ex: Human Revolution was a great game as well but not without flaws. Thankfully even the devs saw fit to apologise and fix them with the directors cut version. Before the end of this trailer I feel like they’ve learnt a lot from their mistakes and are really pushing themselves to make this game fit with the ideals of the original when it comes to player choice and agency.

In the video we get a glimpse of both Adam’s newest augments, which includes being able to launch his arm blades and make them explode on impact(!), as well as the new dangers posed to him and others like him. I’ve always loved the tech noir, near future setting that the series has taken place in, riddled with political manipulation and espionage. The stories manage to strike a note that highlights current affairs and I think the central European setting of this game is no accident.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is due for release in August 2016 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
