SNK have vowed to restore their name to its former glory, having ditched their investment in pachi-slot¬†machines to focus on good old video games again. This is pretty much the exact opposite of what Konami did so I’m gonna call it a good move.

They’ve revived their original logo that hearkens back to their days of dominance in the arcade. There is already some good news on the front of their various IPs with the next King of Fighters game slated for release in August this year on the Playstation 4. Their other frafnchises¬†are said to be considered for sublicensing which is also great news. They still own the rights to Metal Slug, Fatal Fury and Samurai Shodown. All of these are quite old and haven’t seen a new game for some time. I’d love to see a new game for all of them to be honest.

Fatal Fury was a pretty rad franchise.

Fatal Fury was a pretty rad franchise.

Another possibility is a new Capcom Vs. SNK title. Other Capcom Vs. X games have always been a blast, Marvel Vs. Capcom 1, 2 and 3, Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom and of course the original Capcom Vs. SNK as well as it’s various sequels/roster expansions. There’s nothing better than watching your favourite characters from various franchises beat the absolute crap out of each other. It usually helps settle those arguments like “Who would win in a fight? Ryu or Captain America?”, provided their respective players can actually play the game worth a damn.

Thanks Gamesindustrybiz.
