A financial report which details lots of numbers regarding last years earnings and such has been released by Nintendo which also mentions the NX. The most surprising thing is that it’s slated to be released in March 2017.

Too soon?

The Wii U, which I still have love for, looks like it’s being neglected but that may not be the case. Several tweets from Takashi Mochizuki of the Wall Street Journal has given us an insight into the planned life cycle of the Wii U and NX straight from the CEO of Nintendo. The next Zelda game will be released on both the Wii U and the NX as detailed below.

Another strange detail is the mention that the NX won’t be shown or demoed at E3. Zelda will be the only playable game to boot.

It’s also important to remember that Nintendo stick to their release cycle quite strictly where a new console gets released every 5-6 years. The thing about the Wii U is that it had a pretty poor start and didn’t really accelerate even after big games like Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart were released. The NX being released out of the holiday season is an interesting choice but how that effects the sales at its release remains to be seen.
