Nintendo NX Scheduled for March 2017

A financial report which details lots of numbers regarding last years earnings and such has been released by Nintendo which also mentions the NX. The most surprising thing is that it’s slated to be released in March 2017. Too soon? The Wii U, which I still have love for, looks like it’s being neglected but that may not be the case. Several tweets from Takashi Mochizuki of the Wall Street Journal has given us an insight into the planned life cycle of the Wii U and NX straight from the CEO of Nintendo. The next Zelda game will be released...

Cuphead lookin’ sharp

I’ve been keeping an eye on this one. The gameplay is reminiscent of the Metal Slug series and Gunstar Heroes for the Sega Mega Drive, if that rings any bells. Being able to shoot in all directions, having somewhat customisable shot modes, powerups and even the movement speed is quite similar. Cuphead also shares the focus on bosses as it started out as a pure boss rush game. It’s mentioned in the video however that they’ve added platforming sections to give some reprieve between bosses. Obviously the real talking point is the art style of the game. I don’t...

SNK to return to former glory

SNK have vowed to restore their name to its former glory, having ditched their investment in pachi-slot machines to focus on good old video games again. This is pretty much the exact opposite of what Konami did so I’m gonna call it a good move. They’ve revived their original logo that hearkens back to their days of dominance in the arcade. There is already some good news on the front of their various IPs with the next King of Fighters game slated for release in August this year on the Playstation 4. Their other frafnchises are said to be considered for...

Dark Souls 3 Review

Despite being called Dark Souls 3, From Software’s latest release is actually the 5th game that focuses on the 3rd person, action-RPG gameplay the Souls Series is known for. Demon’s Souls released for Playstation 3 in 2009 was, initially, a Japan only release, as it was believed that the game would simply not sell in western countries due to its (at the time) unorthodox and rather uncommon difficulty level. Never shying away from a challenge, I imported myself a copy way back in 2009 and have been a massive fan of the series ever since. Dark Souls 3 sees...

Grim Dawn Review

I’ll be honest with you, there will be a lot of comparisons in this review. Mainly because this type of game is for a specific subset of RPG fans, those that like to click a lot, and the genre has certain heavyweights that one must acknowledge. This game in particular has a lot of features that make it so easy to compare to other games in the genre. This is by NO MEANS a bad thing. Action RPG (ARPG) fans aren’t left wanting in today’s market thanks to entries like the free to play juggernaut Path of Exile (PoE)...
